Oilfab secures RM290mil contract
KUALA LUMPUR: Oilcorp Bhd unit Oilfab Sdn Bhd has secured an offshore engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract worth about RM290mil from Carigali-PTTEPI Operating Co Sdn BHD (CPOC).   Oilfab would construct four wellhead platforms in the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area off the coast of Kelantan, the company said in a statement yesterday.  CPOC operates gas fields in Block B-17 of the joint development area capable of producing 270 million standard cu ft of gas daily.  The contract will contribute positively to Oilcorp group's earnings for the current financial years ending Dec 31 2008.  A similar contract was originally awarded to Ramunia Holdings Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary Ramunia International Services Ltd in February, to provide EPCC of four wellhead platforms and jackets, and the procurement, construction and load out of the eight legged central processing platform jacket valued at RM308mil.  However, CPOC withdrew the contract last month allegedly on the grounds that both parties were unable to reach a satisfactory agreement on the issue of additional costs.  Ramunia subsequently got an injunction against CPOC from re-opening the contract for tender, but this had been lifted. Ramunia said it remained committed to the project and fulfilling its obligations to CPOC.  Oilfab chief executive officer Datuk Mohamed Hazali Abu Hassan said the tender was reopened to the original bidders from Malaysia and Thailand.  Asked if complications would arise later as Ramunia had remained committed to the project, he told StarBiz: “This is a bona fide contract. If there is any legal matter, it will be dealt with by CPOC. I do not see any problems with us going on with the contract.” Work will start immediately for completion progressively from May to September next year.  Hazali said there would be tremendous demand from the local and international oil and gas industry for the setting up of new structures and platforms over the next few years.  “Petronas Carigali and its umbrella contractors are expected to award fabrication contracts worth billions of ringgit over the next five years,” he added.  Petronas' six licensed fabricators are Oilfab, Brooke Dockyard & Engineering Works Corp, HL Engineering Sdn Bhd, Malaysian Marine Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd, Ramunia Fabricators Sdn Bhd and Sime Darby Engineering Sdn Bhd.  Meanwhile, Oilcorp intends to invest RM20mil to upgrade its fabrication yard facilities and other infrastructure, including three new factory bays, to facilitate future projects.  Hazali said upgrading works would begin progressively by September or October, and take about three to five months to complete.

（吉隆坡訊）石油機構（OILCORP，3697）旗下子公司Oilfab私人有限公司獲CARIGALI-PTTEPI營運公司頒發一項總值達2億9000萬令吉的工程合約，以為後者在馬泰聯合開發區（JDA）的4座岸外鑽油平台提供架構組裝服務。

石油機構發表文告表示，該合約有望於2007和2008財政年對其盈利做出貢獻。


Oilfab董事經理拿督莫哈末哈查利預期，國油勘探（Petronas Carigali）和旗下的承包商料於未來5年頒發總值達數十億令吉的合約，而身為6家擁有執照的承包商之一的Oilfab必然從中受惠。

其他執照承包商包括BROOKE DOCKYARD工程、HL工程、大馬海務重工、拉慕尼亞（RAMUNIA，7206）旗下的拉慕尼亞鑄造和森工程服務（SIMEENG，2992）。

此外，石油機構也於今年6月完成Newfield大馬半島機構工程頒發，總值達4000萬令吉的岸外架構組裝工程Chermingat-A。

另一方面，該公司擬再投資2000萬令吉，升級其位於英達島的工廠設備，其中包括3座新工廠。 （星洲日報/財經•2007.08.07）

现在只能看它在海外能不能拿到项目。去年我买的JAKS也发生类似问题。本来雪州政府已经把水务合约分给JAKS但后来变卦把合约给了PUAS ( SYABAS ).
JAKS肚烂就把雪州政府, SYABAS 告上法庭。我当时想JAKS要告政府不知等到何时何年，官字两个口。在JAKS微涨到RM0.5++把JAKS卖了！卖了后JAKS开始上了，法庭判决偏向JAKS.
TMD到今天如果没有卖就开了一番！

RAMUNIA很可能没有JAKS酱好彩但我会等下去。我看好RAMUNIA的前景。

We refer to the query letter from Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad ("Bursa Securities" dated 6 August 2007 pertaining to the news article appearing in The Edge Financial Daily, Page 1, Monday, 6 August 2007 which stated as follows :

"A source told The Edge Financial Daily that the contract, believed to be worth US$88 million (RM 305 million), could soon be awarded to Oilcorp's 51% owned subsidiary OilFab Sdn Bhd. The source said OilFab had received a conditional letter of award for the project, and that the parties involved were deliberating on matters pertaining to pricing.

The source added that the contract was for the provision of engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning ("EPCC" services for four wellhead platforms and their jackets for Block B-17 of the Thai-Malaysia Joint Development Area ("JDA" "

The Board of Directors of Oilcorp whishes to clarify that it did not aware of the source and origination of the above information as reported by The Edge Financial Daily stated above.

Further, the Board of Directors of Oilcorp would like to clarify that Oilcorp had on 6 August 2007 announced the award of contract from Carigali-PTTEPI Operating Company Sdn Bhd ("CPOC" worth approximately RM 290 million on the Provision of Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning ("EPCC" services to construct multiple structures for four platforms in the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area (JDA) off the coast of Kelantan.

This announcement is dated 7 August 2007.
